In our tests, we observed that the notification alert is triggered by a server-side update, so it has nothing to do with the build revision number of Windows 11. This message won’t appear for most people using Edge stable at the moment (unless they are part of the A/B testing group). It also includes a button titled “browser securely now” which redirects users to a webpage highlighting performance, security and other benefits of Edge over other browsers. “Microsoft Edge runs on the same technology as Chrome, with the added trust of Microsoft,” the message reads. If Chrome works properly after you disable the antivirus software, contact the vendor of your antivirus software and ask them for advice, or install a different antivirus solution. As you can see in the above screenshot, this “browse securely message” pops up in the stable build of Edge and it only targets users visiting Chrome’s download page, so you won’t get the same alert if you try to install Firefox, Vivaldi or Opera. (Consult your antivirus documentation for instructions on disabling it.) To see if that’s the problem for you, temporarily disable your antivirus program and firewall and check if the problem persists. Your problem is sometimes caused by interference from antivirus software. Fix 2: Disable your antivirus temporarily If your browser still won’t open after the reboot, read on and try the next fix. A simple reboot wipes away the current state of the software and fixes issues associated with it. To see if there’re any programs preventing your browser from working correctly, try restarting your PC. Sometimes, certain applications running on your computer may conflict with Google Chrome, causing it to fail. Just work your way down the list until you find the one that works. If you’re experiencing this frustrating issue now, take a deep breath and try the fixes below. But, occasionally, you might run into issues like Google Chrome not opening.
